Commerzbank Enterprise Lab »Trade Finance
Innovations Lab« um drei Jahre verlängert
/ Commerzbank Enterprise Lab Project »Trade Finance
Innovations Lab« to Run for Another Three Years
Im Rahmen des »Trade Finance Innovations Lab« untersuchen
Forschende des Fraunhofer IML gemeinsam mit der
Commerzbank Anwendungsmöglichkeiten innovativer digitaler
Technologien, z.
/ As part of the “Trade Finance Innovations Lab”, researchers
from Fraunhofer IML are working with Commerzbank to investigate
possible applications for innovative digital technologies,
such as distributed ledger technology, smart contracts and the
Internet of Things. These technologies are going to be of major
relevance to Commerzbank’s trade finance business in the
future. Within this context, an important role is going to be
played by the silicon economy as well as the associated digital
ecosystem that will enable companies to automate their business
operations. Companies will be able to offer and make use
of services and data across various cross-company platforms in
a secure manner.
Commerzbank’s financial services will also be integrated into
this digital ecosystem – in a fully automated manner. Thus,
physical and financial flows within supply chains can be linked
up instead of running separately as they largely do now.
The researchers involved in the Enterprise Lab are developing
and testing the digital financial services in collaboration with
partners from the industry with a view to creating a customercentric
and needs-based product portfolio.
Fraunhofer IML was responsible for implementing Blockchain-based
automated payment processes as part of the
“Smart Waste Management” use case. At the same time, this
represented a continuation of its collaboration with logistics
service provider Rhenus. Every event along the value chain
that is recorded on the blockchain to confirm the fulfillment
of a service, triggers automated collection of the direct debit
or initiate payment, using smart contracts that have been
specifically developed for this purpose. The next step will be to
make electronic invoices and digital financing offers available
to customers within this ecosystem.
