Internationaler Austausch und Forschung bei der
»Summer School on Blockchain«

“Summer School on Blockchain”
Die »PhD School of Logistics«, die Summer School der »Graduate
School of Logistics«, fand 2021 bereits zum sechsten
Mal statt. Vom 19. bis 23. Juli 2021 stellten 40 Promovierende
und 13 hochkarätige Speaker aus aller Welt die Blockchain-
Technologie in den Mittelpunkt. Kooperationspartner war das
Europäische Blockchain-Institut am Fraunhofer IML.
Bei der »Summer School on Blockchain« wurden unter anderem
wissenschaftliche Methoden, technologische Ansätze,
Konzepte und Strategien für den Einsatz der Blockchain-Technologie
in Dissertationsvorhaben, aber auch für den direkten
Transfer in die Praxis diskutiert. Dem grundsätzlichen Konzept
des Formats folgend, fand auch wieder eine Live Case Study
statt. In interdisziplinären Kleingruppen stellten sich die Teilnehmenden
der Herausforderung, den CO 2
-Fußabdruck des
Unternehmens Lamb Weston mithilfe der Blockchain-Technologie
im Vergleich zum Vorjahr um 25 Prozent zu reduzieren.
Die gesamte Summer School fand digital statt, so konnten
die Teilnehmenden das Motto »Network works digitally« auf
die Probe stellen. »Dass ein solch intensives Format inklusive
Gruppenarbeit rein digital funktioniert, hätten wir nicht
gedacht. Ein großes Lob an die Organisatoren, es war fast, als
säßen wir alle live zusammen«, beschrieb ein Teilnehmer das
Format. Aus der gemeinsamen Woche entstanden neue
Sparringspartner, Forschungskooperationen und weitere
Projektvorhaben.
/ In 2021, the “PhD School of Logistics“ – the summer school
of the “Graduate School of Logistics“ – took place for the sixth
year in a row. On July 19–23, 2021, 40 doctoral candidates
and 13 expert speakers from around the world came together
virtually to focus on blockchain technology. The European
Blockchain Institute at Fraunhofer IML was the collaboration
partner.
At the “Summer School on Blockchain,” scientific methods,
technological approaches, concepts and strategies for using
blockchain technology in dissertation projects but also for
directly transferring research into practice were just some of
the topics discussed. The fundamental concept of the format
was once again complimented by a live case study. Working
in small interdisciplinary groups, participants were given the
challenge of reducing the CO 2
footprint of the company Lamb
Weston by 25% compared to the previous year by using blockchain
technology.
The entire summer school was held in a digital format, meaning
that participants really put the motto “Network works
digitally” to the test. “We would never have thought that
such an intense format with group work would have worked
virtually. This is testament to the organizers – it was almost as
if we were all sat together in the same room,” explain the participants.
The week of collaboration resulted in new sparring
partners, research cooperation and other project proposals.
