Mensch-Roboter-Kollaboration für die
flexible Montagelinie
/ Human-robot Collaboration for a
Flexible Assembly Line
/ The aim of the EU research project ”FELICE” is to support
employees working on assembly processes by providing
adaptive workstations and cognitive robots in order to better
realize the goal of a high-performance automotive industry
that adapts to individual customer needs. In an interdisciplinary
consortium, Fraunhofer IML and several national and international
research partners are developing a modular platform
that combines the advantages of robotics (accuracy and endurance)
with those of humans (cognitive skills and flexibility).
Individual processes are coordinated on a global level, taking
into account the factory’s digital twin and the current needs of
employees. At a local level, process quality is ensured through
the use of appropriate sensors and the employee’s current
physical and mental state is also observed.
In this project, Fraunhofer IML is focusing on detecting tools
and parts at the assembly station using neural networks and
controlling an AI-powered robot arm that can grip and hand
over these tools. Another area of focus is developing, applying
and fusing sensors for human-machine interactions in order to
support workers on an individual basis through use of robots
and adaptive workstations. The project began in January 2021
and will last for 42 months.
This project has received funding
from the European Union’s Horizon
2020 research and innovation
programme under grant agreement
