Einsatz von Motion Capture zur Ergonomiebewertung
einer Kommissionierstation
/ Motion Capture Is Used in Ergonomics
Assessments for Order-picking Stations
/ Swisslog GmbH has developed a high-speed workstation
(HSWS) for goods-to-person order picking that allows bins to
be presented and removed at high speeds. As part of a joint
project, Fraunhofer IML has evaluated the HSWS in terms
of ergonomics, among other things. To accomplish this, the
researchers used a motion-capture system to analyze the work
process on a prototype workstation at Swisslog.
Motion-capture methods can be used to record people’s
movement patterns. The system used for the Swisslog workstation
was equipped with numerous sensor units attached
to the human body to allow recordings of these motions. The
sensors wirelessly transmit real-time measurement data to a
receiver station. An ergonomics software tool then compares
the raw movement data with the relevant standard values in
real time and assesses the risk of musculoskeletal disorders.
An impression of ergonomics at the respective workstation is
thus already created during the recording process. An overall
evaluation then gives a detailed account of how physically
demanding the movement sequences are.
Three individuals with different body sizes participated in the
study to simulate the various unique characteristics that future
employees using the HSWS may have. Each participants’ movements
were recorded in three different possible layouts for the
workstation. This not only gave an overall impression of the
ergonomic conditions, but also enabled a comparison of their
ranges of movement and picking performance.
The motion-capture analysis made it possible to identify
potential technical improvements for ergonomic optimization
of the workstation, which Swisslog will take into account as it
continues to design the HSWS.
