/ Communication Makes the
Silicon Economy Tangible
/ Two years of Silicon Economy research and two years of the
coronavirus pandemic: Despite the restrictions imposed by
the pandemic, scientists were able to develop the network
and advance knowledge transfer with the use of numerous
online formats. Examples of such digital formats are an online
discussion by the pioneers of the Silicon Economy about the
future of logistics that was held as part of the Germany-wide
Digital Day and Silicon Economy sessions given at virtual trade
shows – starting with transport logistics at the Hannover
Messe through to the Future Logistics Congress. In total, the
Silicon Economy has so far registered to take part in more
than 80 trade shows, presentations at congresses and internal
events. The “Blockchain Europe” project even developed a
new communication format, the “UnConference”: This interactive
conference brought the blockchain community together
to focus on the theme of “Getting Things Done.”
The Silicon Economy’s websites (www.silicon-economy.com
and www.blockchain-europe.nrw) were visited by around
3000 interested parties per month. Project-related and educational
films as well as event recordings were viewed more than
6000 times on YouTube. On social media channels, particularly
LinkedIn, more than 2000 followers “liked” the Silicon Economy
and the European Blockchain Institute. Traditional media,
such as the first edition of the “Silicon Economist” magazine,
were also disseminated in the form of PDF files via these
channels. The cartoon character “Ledger Man,” developed by
the European Blockchain Institute, makes the Silicon Economy
accessible to a young, innovative target group in science and
industry.
