176 SOLID-STATE LOW VOLTAGE MOTOR CONTROL Reduced Voltage Motor Starters PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Easy Start Reduced Voltage Solid-State Motor Starter Motor Control Center Plug-in Unit PRODUCT HISTORY Culter-Hammer’s present line of reduced voltage starters is the culmination of 38 years of product development. In 1958, Vectrol Engineering began manufacturing SCR Gate Driver circuitry and progressed into their own soft starter product line, known as the Vectrol Motor Starter (VMS). In 1980, Vectrol was purchased by Westinghouse. The VMS was quickly phased out of production and the Vectrol ES (Energy Saver) solid-state reduced voltage starter was introduced.
