90887 Interpretation or explanation of exam results is not
covered because reimbursement is included in the
compensation for the practitioner’s basic service billed
with the testing code. This service may be allowed for
Public Program members within the DHS Policy
guidelines of four per year. Services beyond the four
per year will be denied as provider liability.
90889 Preparation of report is a contract exclusion and is not
covered.
90899 Unlisted psychiatric service or procedure codes must be
submitted with a specific narrative description detailing
exactly what the charge is for along with documentation
of time. Unlisted codes may be subject to denial if there
is an existing definitive code describing the service.
Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS) providers
should bill HCPCS code H2014, for skills training and
development services provided to Public Program members. These
services are used exclusively for Public Program members under
the age of 21. The appropriate number of units must be billed with
this code. Each unit equals 15 minutes of service. Providers billing
code H2014 must include the following modifier(s):
UA for individual skills
UA, HR for family skills
UA, HQ for group skills
While the majority of CTSS providers specialize in in-home work,
they can also provide services in the office. H2014 is only one of
many services under the CTSS umbrella. CTSS providers can bill
all the codes that any other licensed mental health professional can
bill. The Skills Training service will often be done by a nonlicensed
practitioner but should always be billed under the
supervising professional’s provider number or NPI.
