women and m<strong>in</strong>ority ethnic performers were slightly over-<br />
represented, compared <strong>to</strong> their proportions <strong>in</strong> the population.<br />

Despite the fact that 16-24 year olds make up 23% of the m<strong>in</strong>ority<br />
ethnic population compared with 13% the white population (ONS), one<br />
survey found proportionately fewer m<strong>in</strong>ority ethnic film performers <strong>in</strong><br />
this age group (5%) than white performers 3 (9%) (ONS) (UK <strong>Film</strong> Council<br />
undated).<br />
3.2.10 Pay<br />
In the feature film sec<strong>to</strong>r, by far the most common range of <strong>in</strong>come<br />
reported was less than £20,000, and this was the experience of almost<br />
half the respondents <strong>in</strong> 2006. (UK <strong>Film</strong> Council and Skillset Project<br />
Update 20<strong>07</strong>). In 2003, responses were more evenly distributed across<br />
the <strong>in</strong>come range, where a fifth earned less than £20,000. One fifth of<br />

16-24 year olds represent only 5% of BME film performers, compared with 9% of white film<br />
performers (ONS).<br />
