– Short Sword, poisoned: Str+d6 (+2 extra damage for the poison)<br />
– Short Bow, poisoned: Range 10/20/40, 2d6 damage (+2 extra<br />
damage for the poison)<br />
• Special Abilities:<br />
– Armor +1: Magically tough.<br />
– Petrifying Gaze: A medusa can try to turn an opponent to stone by<br />
catching their gaze. Make an opposed Agility roll; if the medusa<br />
wins, the target must make a Spirit roll at -4 or be turned to<br />
stone! If the medusa catches sight of her own reflection, she<br />
must make the same roll. You can try to fight the medusa with<br />
your eyes closed or looking away; it’s the same as fighting in<br />
pitch darkness (-4 to attack rolls, SW:EX page 67). A medusa can<br />
use this power once per round as a normal action. The gaze has<br />
a 10” range.<br />
– Snakes: A medusa can attack every adjacent foe with her snakehair,<br />
if she makes no other attacks in a round. She must make<br />
a single Fighting attack to hit (like the Improved Sweep edge).<br />
Every target hit must make a Vigor roll at -2 or take 2d6 damage.<br />
14.3. Mermen<br />
Mermen are the undisputed rulers of the underwater kingdoms. They prefer<br />
not to sully themselves with ‘dirt dwellers’, though they’ll sometimes<br />
form temporary alliances against a common foe.<br />
• Attributes: Agility d8, Smarts d6, Spirit d6, Strength d6, Vigor d8<br />
• Skills: Fighting d6, Guts d6, Notice d6, Swimming d8, Throwing d8<br />
• Pace: 8; Parry: 5 (6 w/ shield); Toughness: 7 (1)<br />
• Gear:<br />
– Armor +1: Usually made of layered seashells.<br />
– Turtle Shell Shield: +1 Parry, +2 armor to ranged shots that hit.<br />
– Trident: Str+d6. These are short spears, used one-handed.<br />
