• Infection: Some (1 in 10) vampire bats can pass on true vampirism<br />
with their bite. Any one killed by one of these bats will become a vampire<br />
1d4 days after death, unless appropriate precautions are taken.<br />
5.4. Beetles, Giant<br />
Here are three varieties of giant beetle: fire, oil, and tiger.<br />
5.4.1. Fire Beetle<br />
These 2 1Ď2’ long beetles are usually found underground. They have glowing<br />
glands above their eyes and on their back which allow them to see in<br />
the dark.<br />
• Attributes: Agility d6, Smarts d4 (A), Spirit d6, Strength d6, Vigor d6<br />
• Skills: Fighting d4, Guts d4, Notice d6<br />
• Pace: 6; Parry: 4; Toughness: 6 (1)<br />
• Special Abilities:<br />
– Armor +1: Tough carapace.<br />
– Bite: Str+d6<br />
– Fluorescent Glands: The beetle halves all lighting penalties. These<br />
glands can be removed after the beetle is dead (make an Agility<br />
roll at -2 to do so); they give off light in a 2” radius for 1d6 days.<br />
5.4.2. Oil Beetle<br />
Oil beetles are 3’ long, oily black in color, and can burrow underground.<br />
• Attributes: Agility d6, Smarts d4 (A), Spirit d6, Strength d6, Vigor d6<br />
• Skills: Fighting d6, Guts d4, Notice d4, Stealth d6<br />
• Pace: 6; Parry: 5; Toughness: 7 (2)<br />
• Special Abilities:<br />
– Armor +2: Tough carapace.<br />
– Bite: Str+d6<br />
– Burrowing: An oil beetle can dig through loose earth and soil at<br />
Pace 6”.<br />
