8.44 GILBERT UNIFIED LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE<br />

G. The Planning Director in approving design, screening, camouflaging, or landscaping<br />

requirements shall take into consideration the Design Review Board criteria found in<br />

Section 7.44 <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Code</strong>, and any other applicable design criteria <strong>of</strong> the ULDC, and any<br />

recommendations by the Redevelopment Commission.<br />

8.45 Equipment cabinets and buildings.<br />

A. Equipment cabinets shall be located within the building upon which antennae are placed,<br />

if technically feasible. Otherwise, equipment cabinets and buildings, and associated<br />

equipment such as air conditioning units and emergency generators, shall be screened<br />

from view by a wall or landscaping, as approved by the <strong>Town</strong>. Any wall shall be<br />

architecturally compatible with the building or immediate surrounding area.<br />

B. An equipment cabinet shall not exceed eight (8) feet in height and a building shall not<br />

exceed one story. An equipment cabinet or building may contain an area <strong>of</strong> up to three<br />

hundred (300) square feet for a single provider or six hundred (600) square feet for<br />

multiple wireless providers. An equipment cabinet or building for servicing a public<br />

safety communications tower may exceed the size limitations set forth herein.<br />

8.46 Security fencing; Anti-climbing features.<br />

A. Security fencing, if any, shall not exceed six (6) feet to ten (0) feet in height, consistent<br />

with fencing in the area. Fencing shall be no less than the above grade height <strong>of</strong> the<br />

equipment cabinet. Fencing shall be effectively screened from view through the use <strong>of</strong><br />

landscaping. No chain link fences shall be visible from public view.<br />

B. Anti-climbing features shall be incorporated into the WCF, as needed, to reduce<br />

potential for trespass and injury.<br />

8.4 7 Building codes; Safety standards.<br />

All WCFs must be constructed and maintained in a structurally sound manner and comply<br />

with applicable local building codes and standards <strong>of</strong> the Electronic Industries Association. The<br />

<strong>Town</strong> may require a WCF to comply with any significant safety-related codes or standards<br />

enacted after a permit is issued to protect the public health, safety and welfare. If, upon<br />

inspection, the <strong>Town</strong> determines that a WCF fails to comply with said codes and standards, the<br />

<strong>Town</strong> shall provide a notice to the owner, and the owner shall have thirty (30) days to bring such<br />

facility into compliance. If the owner fails to bring the facility into compliance the <strong>Town</strong> may<br />

terminate the permit and remove the facility at the owner's expense.<br />

8.48 Radio frequency standards; Interference; noise.<br />

A. The WCF shall comply with federal standards for radio frequency (RF) emissions.<br />

Failure to meet federal standards may result in termination or modification <strong>of</strong> the permit.<br />
