PARKING 4.25<br />

A. An additional parking space may be constructed on lots in single-family residential<br />

districts in the following locations:<br />

1. For any size lot: Adjacent to the driveway or carport and extending into the side yard <strong>of</strong><br />

the lot, except a minimum three (3) foot setback from the neighboring property is<br />

required; or<br />

2. No lot shall have more than one (1) additional parking space.<br />

B. The additional parking space permitted by this subsection shall comply with the following<br />

standards, in addition to any other standards contained in this <strong>Code</strong>:<br />

1. On corner lots, the parking space shall not be constructed in the side yard adjacent to<br />

street frontage.<br />

2. The additional parking space shall have a surface <strong>of</strong> asphalt, concrete, cement or<br />

improved gravel.<br />

a. The surface may consist <strong>of</strong> two (2) parallel concrete or cement strips <strong>of</strong> twentyfour<br />

(24) inches in width apiece, and placed at a distance <strong>of</strong> thirty-two (32) inches<br />

apart. The area between such parallel strips shall be covered with grass, cultivated<br />

vegetation, brick, or improved gravel <strong>of</strong> at least three (3) inches in thickness.<br />

b. If the surface is <strong>of</strong> improved gravel, it shall be <strong>of</strong> at least three (3) inches in<br />

thickness, and be enclosed within a raised fixed border <strong>of</strong> block, wood or other<br />

non-putrescible border in such a manner that the gravel does not migrate beyond<br />

the border.<br />

3. The additional parking space must be large enough so that a parked vehicle does not<br />

block a sidewalk.<br />

4. The additional parking space shall be kept free <strong>of</strong> weeds and debris. No storage <strong>of</strong><br />

materials or equipment shall be permitted on the additional parking space.<br />

5. The additional parking space must be uncovered.<br />

6. The additional parking space shall be constructed in such a manner that unrestricted<br />

parking and movement <strong>of</strong> a vehicle is allowed without impact to any landscaping<br />

material.<br />

7. Access to the additional parking space must be obtained via a curb cut, rolled curb, or<br />

driveway.<br />

8. No boats, trailers or motorized vehicles shall be parked in the front or side yard visible<br />

from the street, except on a driveway or on the additional parking space permitted in this<br />

section.<br />
