removed no later than ten (10) days following the election;<br />

4. Ideological signs not to exceed twenty (20) square feet in area, nor six (6) feet in height;<br />

5. Garage and yard sales signs may only be used during the hours the sale is being conducted.<br />

Such signs shall not exceed six (6) square feet in area, nor six (6) feet in height. No more than<br />

three (3) <strong>of</strong>f-site temporary signs may be erected. Signs shall only be placed on private<br />

property and shall not be placed on any right-<strong>of</strong>-way sign or fixed structures such as light<br />

poles, traffic signals, or any other roadside structures. The property owner shall be<br />

responsible for removal <strong>of</strong> signs at the end <strong>of</strong> the sale;<br />

6. Grand opening, quarterly, and seasonal sales signs or banners, subject to the issuance <strong>of</strong> an<br />

Administrative Use Permit. These signs shall only be indicative <strong>of</strong> the new business or<br />

service;<br />

7. Holiday signs for a period, thirty (30) days before Thanksgiving and no later than five (5)<br />

days after New Year's Day;<br />

8. Holiday decorations for commercial establishments, provided that such decorations are<br />

displayed for a period <strong>of</strong> no more than 45 consecutive days;<br />

9. Boutique signs, provided that no more than three (3) <strong>of</strong>f-site temporary signs are used.<br />

Signs may only be used during the hours that the boutique is open. Placement criteria and all<br />

other applicable Sign <strong>Code</strong> restrictions shall apply;<br />

10. Interior signs inside a building displayed no closer than three (3) feet from the window area;<br />

11. Permanent <strong>of</strong>f-site directional signs identifying the location <strong>of</strong> or direction to governmental<br />

facilities;<br />

12. Contractor, sub-contractor, or construction signs limited to one (1) sign no greater than thirtytwo<br />

(32) square feet in area in commercial and industrial properties.<br />

13. Small portable signs are permitted in the Heritage District, subject to guidelines adopted by<br />

the Redevelopment Commission.<br />

C. Maintenance <strong>of</strong> legal signs with same material shall not require a permit. Maintenance shall be<br />

defined as the replacing or repairing <strong>of</strong> a part or portion <strong>of</strong> a sign, made unusable by ordinary<br />

wear, tear, or damage beyond the control <strong>of</strong> the owner, with the same material, color, and design.<br />

Maintenance <strong>of</strong> legal signs does not include changing the color, size, design, or style <strong>of</strong> signs.<br />

D. Flagpoles not to exceed one and one-half (1.5) times the allowed building height in any zone.<br />

A valid building permit shall be required for flagpoles. The sign provisions <strong>of</strong> this Article shall not<br />

apply to flags, or insignias <strong>of</strong> any nation, state, county, city, or other political unit.<br />

E. Bus Shelter Signage. Notwithstanding the provisions <strong>of</strong> Subsection 3.26E <strong>of</strong> this Article regarding<br />

signs in the public right-<strong>of</strong>-way, signing in conjunction with bus shelter facilities<br />
