Sign, temporary. Any type <strong>of</strong> sign not permanendy attached to the ground, wall or building, intended to<br />

be displayed only for a specified period <strong>of</strong> time.<br />

Sign, tower. A freestanding cabinet or panel sign architecturally integrated with the building having a<br />

height <strong>of</strong> minimum ten (10) feet and maximum fifteen (15) feet from the top <strong>of</strong> the sign to the bottom<br />

<strong>of</strong> the sign. The sign base shall be constructed not to exceed fifty (50) percent <strong>of</strong> the open space<br />

beneath the cabinet or panel.<br />

Sign, traffic direction. Signs used at driveways to improve public safety and to enhance public access to<br />

the site from public streets. This sign provides information, which will assist the operators <strong>of</strong> vehicles<br />

in the flow <strong>of</strong> traffic. Such signs may use names, logos, or symbols <strong>of</strong> buildings, businesses, activities,<br />

uses or places as a means <strong>of</strong> direction.<br />

Sign, V-shaped or A-frame. Signs erected upon common or separate structure which present a Vshape<br />

appearance and having an exterior angle between faces <strong>of</strong> not more than forty-five (45) degrees with<br />

distance between faces <strong>of</strong> such signs at their closest point not exceeding two (2) feet.<br />

Sign, vehicle. A sign mounted, pointed or otherwise placed on a trailer, truck, automobile or other<br />

vehicle so parked or placed so that the sign thereon is visible from a public street or right-<strong>of</strong>-way and is<br />

so parked primarily for the purpose <strong>of</strong> displaying advertising signage.<br />

Sign, wall A sign fastened to or painted on the wall or parapet <strong>of</strong> a building or structure in such a<br />

manner that the wall becomes the supporting structure form or forms, the background surface <strong>of</strong> the<br />

sign and which does not project more than fifteen (15) inches from such building or structure.<br />

Sign, window. A sign that is applied, attached or within six (6) feet <strong>of</strong> the interior <strong>of</strong> a first floor window<br />

area and is displayed so as to attract attention <strong>of</strong> persons outside to a produce or service <strong>of</strong>fered inside<br />

the building. Window signs do not include merchandise or models <strong>of</strong> products incorporated in a<br />

window display. The intent <strong>of</strong> the window signs is to inform pedestrian shoppers <strong>of</strong> temporary sales<br />

and other special events, and not services normally available.<br />

Sign, ,yard sale. See sign, garage sale.<br />

Special event. A promotional event such as bazaars, street fairs, shows, exhibitions, sporting events,<br />

runs, bicycling events, and block parties. This does not include sidewalk sales occurring on private<br />

property where merchandise normally sold indoors, and is transferred from indoors to outdoor for sale.<br />

Structure. Anything which is built or constructed or any piece <strong>of</strong> work artificially built up or composed<br />

<strong>of</strong> parts, including, but not limited to, buildings, fences, towers, overhead transmission lines and<br />

mechanical equipment.<br />

Time and temperature unit. A sign or portion <strong>of</strong> a sign displaying only current time and temperature in an<br />

electronic, digital fashion.<br />
