GLOSSARY<br />

HELISTOP: A designated landing area used for the landing and taking <strong>of</strong>f <strong>of</strong> helicopters for the<br />

purpose <strong>of</strong> picking up or discharging passengers or cargo, not including fueling or service<br />

facilities.<br />

HIGHWAY: A general term denoting a public way for purposes <strong>of</strong> vehicular travel, including<br />

the entire area within the right-<strong>of</strong>-way.<br />

HOME OCCUPATION: A "home occupation" is an occupation or a pr<strong>of</strong>ession which:<br />

1. Is customarily carried on in a dwelling unit, or in an attached building;<br />

2. Is carried on by a member or members <strong>of</strong> the family residing in the dwelling unit,<br />

and<br />

3. Is clearly incidental and secondary to the use <strong>of</strong> the dwelling unit for residential<br />

purpose, and<br />

4. Conforms to the following additional conditions:<br />

a. The occupations or pr<strong>of</strong>ession shall be carried on wholly within the principal<br />

building or within an attached building.<br />

b. No one outside <strong>of</strong> the family shall be employed in a "home occupation".<br />

c. There shall be no exterior display, no exterior storage <strong>of</strong> materials, and no<br />

other exterior indication <strong>of</strong> the "home occupation II or variation from the<br />

residential character <strong>of</strong> the principal building.<br />

d. No <strong>of</strong>fensive noise, vibration, smoke, dust, odors, heat, or glare shall be<br />

produced.<br />

e. The activity shall be limited to the hours between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.<br />

A home occupation shall not include, among others the following: barber shops and beauty<br />

parlors; commercial stables, veterinary <strong>of</strong>fices, hospitals, and kennels; real estate <strong>of</strong>fices;<br />

restaurants. A home occupation may include, among others the following: child day care or<br />

adult day care, but shall not include a day care center.<br />

HOSPITAL: An institution, place, building, or agency, public or private, whether organized for<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>it or not, devoted primarily to the maintenance and operation <strong>of</strong> facilities for the diagnosis and<br />

treatment or care <strong>of</strong> two (2) or more unrelated persons admitted for overnight stay or longer in<br />

order to obtain medical treatment, including obstetric, psychiatric and nursing, care <strong>of</strong> illness,<br />

disease, injury, infirmity, or deformity. The term "hospital" also includes:<br />

1. Any facility which is devoted primarily to providing psychiatric and related<br />

services and programs for the diagnosis and treatment or care <strong>of</strong> two (2) or more<br />

unrelated persons suffering from emotional or nervous disease; and<br />

2. All places where pregnant women are received, cared for, or treated during<br />

delivery, irrespective <strong>of</strong> the number <strong>of</strong> patients received.<br />
