As we discussed in the previous lesson, it is not who you are but what
you do that puts you at risk.
Anyone who has sex or shares needles with an HIV -infected person can
get HIV. Therefore, in order to eliminate your risk of getting HIV, do
not engage in sexual intercourse and do not use injection drugs. If you
are sexually active, remain in a lifetime relationship with only one
partner who is Q..otinfected, not using injectionaiiïgs; nofslïäñng
neeolesorsyringes, and not having sexual intercourse with other
people. Use latex condoms and spermicide containing nonoxynol-9
during each instance of sexual intercourse.
