what is already taught in health education and child personal safety.
Therefore, it may not need to be repeated.
However, please be advised that parents have the right to request in writing
that their child not be included in AIDS prevention instruction. Each building
will establish procedures for informing parents as to when such instruction
shall take place in order to allow parents to exercise their right to have their
child removed.
Suggestions for Teachers
l. Audio-visual aids may be used to assist the teacher in the presentation of
information. Such visual aids should be previewed before use and must be used
with care. Such aids should reflect the District's philosophy and emphasis of
abstinence from harmful behavior.
2. Teachers at the secondary level may need to use appropriate explicit
vocabulary which could be offensive or embarrassing to some students.
3. Teachers may need to become familiar with the scope and sequence of the
curriculum in order to present concepts and lessons initiated in earlier grades.
