Women with a Vision (WWAV). According to <strong>the</strong> information received, on
24 May 2012, an unidentified person broke into <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> WWAV and
started at least four fires, which subsequently spread throughout <strong>the</strong> entire
building. Reports state that <strong>the</strong> room most targeted was that in which <strong>the</strong>
rights-based trainings <strong>of</strong> WWAV were conducted and where sexual and
reproductive health training materials were stored. WWAV is a women‘s
rights organization based in New Orleans, Louisiana, which seeks to
improve <strong>the</strong> lives <strong>of</strong> marginalized women through <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> advocacy,
health education, supportive services and research. The arson attack
reportedly coincided with WWAV's vocal opposition to <strong>the</strong> enactment on 22
May 2012 <strong>of</strong> a law related to <strong>the</strong> termination <strong>of</strong> pregnancy by <strong>the</strong> legislature
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State <strong>of</strong> Louisiana, which prohibits abortion after 20 weeks <strong>of</strong>
gestation, with three exceptions, including when a woman‘s life is at risk.

Alleged ongoing executions for drug-related crimes, following proceedings
that do not comply with international human rights law standards on fair
trial and due process guarantees. According to <strong>the</strong> information received,
<strong>the</strong>re was a spike in <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> executions carried out in <strong>the</strong> Islamic
Republic <strong>of</strong> Iran during <strong>the</strong> month <strong>of</strong> November 2012. According to reports,
as well as corroboration from Governmental sources in a wide range <strong>of</strong>
cases, <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> executions carried out in <strong>the</strong> period from 7 to 20
November 2012 is at least 32, and possibly 81. The individuals executed,
including Mr. Hamid Gholamy were allegedly sentenced to death for drugrelated
<strong>of</strong>fences. The majority <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> executions carried out since <strong>the</strong>
beginning <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> year are alleged to take place following unfair trials, for
drug-related <strong>of</strong>fences, which are not considered most serious crimes under
international human rights law.
