November 2012, a dem<strong>on</strong>strati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> about 15 participants took place in<br />
Saint Petersburg. Reportedly, when <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> assembly ended, its organizer Mr.<br />
Andrey Yakimov, was arrested by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> police and charged for organizing an<br />
assembly ―exceeding <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> number <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> participants initially planned for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
rally‖, although he had reportedly indicated in his request that he expected<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> participati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> about 20 participants. At <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> end <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> assembly, Mr.<br />
Vitaliy Le<strong>on</strong>ov, <strong>on</strong>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> participants, was also arrested and accused <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
‗disobedience‘ after he had tried to prevent police from destroying some<br />
pictures and flowers put down by dem<strong>on</strong>strators. It is reported that Mr.<br />
Yakimov was acquitted <strong>on</strong> 21 January 2013. On 19 December 2012 police<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>ficers reportedly carried out searches in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong> House <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
Vor<strong>on</strong>ezh. They reportedly briefly handed to some employees <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong>e<br />
organizati<strong>on</strong> targeted a warrant to enter all NGOs‘ <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fices, but refused<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>reafter to present it again to representatives <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r organizati<strong>on</strong>s subject<br />
to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> search. On <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same day, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> apartment <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Ms. Natalia Zvyagina, a<br />
human rights activist, was also searched. On 2 January 2013, Mr. Alexey<br />
Kozlov, a human rights and envir<strong>on</strong>mental activist from Vor<strong>on</strong>ezh, received<br />
two threatening an<strong>on</strong>ymous ph<strong>on</strong>e calls. On 12 January 2013, Mr. Vitaly<br />
P<strong>on</strong>omarev, head <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Central Asia programme <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong> Centre<br />
(<str<strong>on</strong>g>HRC</str<strong>on</strong>g>) Memorial, received several an<strong>on</strong>ymous death threats through<br />

earthquake that shook north-western Iran <strong>on</strong> 11 August 2012. According to<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> informati<strong>on</strong> received, a large number <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> people still lived under tents<br />
over four m<strong>on</strong>ths after an earthquake shook north-western Iran, East<br />
Azerbaijan province, <strong>on</strong> 11 August 2012. At least 399 villages were affected<br />
by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> earthquake. Over 100,000 pers<strong>on</strong>s - mostly ethnic Azerbaijani Turks<br />
- were reportedly <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fered shelter in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> weeks following <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> earthquake. As<br />
winter settled, many <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> those affected were reportedly still living under<br />
tents, unprotected from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> cold. The extent <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Government support to those<br />
affected, in particular housing rec<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong>, is unclear and has been<br />
reported to be slow.<br />
