Cornavin, à Genève. Sel<strong>on</strong> les informati<strong>on</strong>s reçues, les CFF (Chemins de<br />

Fer Fédéraux) envisageraient d‘agrandir la Gare Cornavin à Genève d‘ici à<br />

2025, avec la c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> en surface d‘un quai et de deux voies<br />

supplémentaires. Le projet c<strong>on</strong>duirait à la destructi<strong>on</strong> de 385 logements (ce<br />

qui corresp<strong>on</strong>drait à un millier de pers<strong>on</strong>nes), dans un quartier représentant<br />

un tissu éc<strong>on</strong>omique et social unique à Genève. Un grand nombre de petits<br />

commerces seraient également affectés. Les alternatives de logement<br />

suggérées par les CFF ne rép<strong>on</strong>draient pas aux besoins des habitants<br />

affectés; de plus aucun financement ne serait pour l‘instant garanti. Aucune<br />

c<strong>on</strong>sultati<strong>on</strong> sur ce projet n‘aurait été entamée avec les habitants, et leurs<br />

besoins n‘auraient pas été évalués. De plus, il y aurait des soluti<strong>on</strong>s<br />

alternatives, notamment la c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> d‘une gare souterraine, ce que les<br />

résidents <strong>on</strong>t proposé, mais ces alternatives n‘auraient pas été examinées de<br />

manière adéquate par les CFF et les autorités.<br />

Alleged negative c<strong>on</strong>sequences <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> upcoming deadline <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> nati<strong>on</strong>ality<br />

verificati<strong>on</strong> process <strong>on</strong> migrant workers from Myanmar. According to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

informati<strong>on</strong> received, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Nati<strong>on</strong>ality Verificati<strong>on</strong> process for workers from<br />

Myanmar has to be completed by 14 December 2012. It is reported that after<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> deadline, regularisati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> irregular workers in Thailand will no l<strong>on</strong>ger<br />

be possible, and all five Myanmar temporary Nati<strong>on</strong>ality Verificati<strong>on</strong><br />

centres should be closed and no l<strong>on</strong>ger issue passports or visas.<br />

Fur<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rmore, it is reported that <strong>on</strong>ly legal import <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> workers from Myanmar<br />

under <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Memoranda <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Understanding process will be permitted, and Thai<br />

law enforcement authorities will remove irregular workers from Myanmar.<br />

The nati<strong>on</strong>ality verificati<strong>on</strong> process has been <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> subject <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> previous<br />

communicati<strong>on</strong>s (see A/<str<strong>on</strong>g>HRC</str<strong>on</strong>g>/18/<str<strong>on</strong>g>51</str<strong>on</strong>g>; case no THA 10/2009, THA 1/2010,<br />

and THA 6/2010).<br />
