received, on 27 June 2012, Mr. Eskinder Nega Fenta along with journalists
Messrs. Mesfin Negash, Abiye Teklemariam, Abebe Gellaw, Abebe Belew and
Fasil Yenealem, who were reportedly in exile and tried in absentia, were found
guilty <strong>of</strong> charges related to terrorism, treason and espionage under <strong>the</strong> Criminal
Code <strong>of</strong> Ethiopia and <strong>the</strong> Anti-Terrorism Law. According to reports, <strong>the</strong> presiding
judge accused <strong>the</strong> journalists <strong>of</strong> ―attempting to incite violence and overthrow <strong>the</strong>
constitutional order‖ and <strong>the</strong> prosecutor allegedly requested sentences <strong>of</strong> life
imprisonment. On 13 July 2012, Mr. Eskinder Nega Fenta was reportedly
sentenced to 18 years in prison. The prominent journalist and blogger, along with
<strong>23</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r individuals, were charged with terrorism-related <strong>of</strong>fenses in November
2011, reportedly in connection with an article Mr. Nega Fenta wrote in September
2011, in which he called for greater freedom <strong>of</strong> expression and <strong>of</strong> association in
Ethiopia. Mr. Nega Fenta was <strong>the</strong> subject <strong>of</strong> previous communications (see
A/<strong>HRC</strong>/20/30, case no ETH 7/2011).
Préoccupations relatives à l'élaboration de la future Constitution de la République
tunisienne, en particulier son article 28. Selon les informations reçues, cet article
régresse sur les réalisations historiques de la Tunisie en matière d'égalité et des
droits humains des femmes. Il prévoit que le rôle des femmes est également
complémentaire à celui des hommes au sein de la famille." Le terme de
«complémentarité» est une régression par rapport à l '«égalité» prévue dans la
législation tunisienne précédente, y compris dans le Code du Statut Personnel de
1956.
