unauthorized peaceful assembly organized by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> organizati<strong>on</strong> at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Companies Commissi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Malaysia <strong>on</strong> 18 September 2012. On 5<br />

December 2012, W<strong>on</strong>g Kar Fai, Sarah Devaraj, Fadiah Nadwa Fikri,<br />

Cynthia Gabriel, and K. Arumugam, all staff or secretariat members <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

SUARAM, were issued notices under Secti<strong>on</strong> 111 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Criminal<br />

Procedure Code in which <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y were ordered to appear before <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Brickfield<br />

police stati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> 7 December to record statements. On 7 January 2013, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

five individuals, after <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y obtained <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> postp<strong>on</strong>ement <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> recording, went<br />

to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> police stati<strong>on</strong>, but <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y reportedly remained silent as permitted under<br />

Secti<strong>on</strong> 112 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Criminal Procedure Code.<br />

January 2013, Ms X, an 11-year old girl from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Yazidi community <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

nor<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rn Iraq was forcefully abducted by Mr. Y <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Goran tribe, from<br />

Kalakchi village. Mr. Y is a 20-year old vegetable vendor who has been<br />

selling his produce at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> market <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Sheikha. Ms X was forced into a car and<br />

taken away by Mr. Y. The alleged intenti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Mr. Y was to marry <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> girl,<br />

and it is feared that she may have been raped. It is reported that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> two<br />

individuals have since married. The fa<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> abducted girl reported <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

incident to police authorities, including to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Alqush Police Stati<strong>on</strong> which<br />

forwarded <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> file to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Telkaif Court. Fur<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rmore, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> fa<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r opened a<br />

case with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Shekhan Court, which bel<strong>on</strong>gs to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Kurdistan Regi<strong>on</strong>al<br />

Government, but no investigati<strong>on</strong> or prosecuti<strong>on</strong> had taken place at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> time<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> sending <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> communicati<strong>on</strong>.
