Saz<strong>on</strong>au and Uladzimir Khilmanovich were made aware <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> charges brought<br />

against <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m under Article <str<strong>on</strong>g>23</str<strong>on</strong>g>.34 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Belarusian Administrative Code<br />

(organizing or c<strong>on</strong>ducting a mass event or dem<strong>on</strong>strati<strong>on</strong>), <strong>on</strong> 19 December,<br />

some days after <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir photographs appeared <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> internet website <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

defender, and booklets <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Universal Declarati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong>. The<br />

three cases, having been merged into <strong>on</strong>e, were heard by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Leninski<br />

District Court <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Hrodna <strong>on</strong> 5 January 2013. It is reported that nei<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r<br />

witnesses nor any evidence was presented during <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hearing with<br />

accusati<strong>on</strong>s being based solely <strong>on</strong> police reports. The Presiding Judge<br />

allegedly made no interventi<strong>on</strong>s during <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hearing, <strong>on</strong>ly issuing <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> court<br />

ruling at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> end.<br />

Alleged detrimental impact <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> recent austerity measures <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> enjoyment <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> right to adequate housing in Greece, particularly by vulnerable groups,<br />

such as homeless, migrants and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> unemployed. According to informati<strong>on</strong><br />

received, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> current ec<strong>on</strong>omic crisis has led to a rising number <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> evicti<strong>on</strong>s,<br />

which have allegedly been facilitated and accelerated by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> amendment <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

art. 15 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Law No. 4055/2012 (FEK<str<strong>on</strong>g>51</str<strong>on</strong>g>A/12-3-2012), dealing with evicti<strong>on</strong><br />

proceedings.The Worker‘s Housing Organizati<strong>on</strong> (OEK), was closed in<br />

February 2012 pursuant to Law No. 4046/2012 (FEK 28A/14-2-2012),<br />

reportedly resulting in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> permanent suspensi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> rent subsidies for nearly<br />

120,000 households, as well as <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> suspensi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> affordable loans formerly<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fered by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> instituti<strong>on</strong> and <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> projects. Fur<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rmore,<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> received indicates that thousands <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> households have been<br />

living without electricity due to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir inability to pay for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> rising electricity<br />

prices and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> recently introduced ―Urgent Special Charge <strong>on</strong> Electrified<br />

Built Surfaces‖, imposed based <strong>on</strong> Law 4021/2011, adopted in 2011.<br />
