Allegations <strong>of</strong> investigations launched by <strong>the</strong> police to find 14 activists who
allegedly brought children to a recent opposition-led rally. According to <strong>the</strong>
information received, on 12 January 2013, opposition parties organized a
large rally called ―Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat‖ (―people uprising rally‖)
during which no incident occurred thanks to <strong>the</strong> facilitative approach
adopted by <strong>the</strong> police prior to and throughout <strong>the</strong> rally. However, it is
reported that <strong>the</strong> police have been searching for 14 activists who allegedly
brought children to <strong>the</strong> rally, in breach <strong>of</strong> Section 4(2) <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Peaceful
Assembly Act 2012.

Alleged forced evictions <strong>of</strong> thousands <strong>of</strong> families from <strong>the</strong> Majombe
neighbourhood <strong>of</strong> Cacuaco municipality in Luanda. According to
information received, on 1, 2, 4 and 5 February 2013, thousands <strong>of</strong> families
from <strong>the</strong> Maiombe neighbourhood <strong>of</strong> Cacuaco municipality, in <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong>
Luanda, have been forcibly evicted by Government <strong>of</strong>ficials and private
security forces, and <strong>the</strong>ir houses have been demolished. It is fur<strong>the</strong>r alleged
that some individuals have been beaten in <strong>the</strong> process, and that at least six
people have been arrested when attempting to resist <strong>the</strong> demolitions.
Allegedly, hundreds <strong>of</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r families who remained in <strong>the</strong> ruins <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir
homes after <strong>the</strong> demolitions are currently at risk <strong>of</strong> being forcibly evicted.

Alegaciones de un atentado contra la vida de un sacerdote y defensor de
derechos humanos. Según las informaciones recibidas, el 13 de febrero de
2013 el coche en el que viajaba el Padre Alberto Franco recibió el impacto
de tres balas de pistola en su parabrisas. Asimismo, el Padre Franco habría
sido objeto de seguimiento y actos de intimidación en el pasado en conexión
con su trabajo y declaraciones públicas sobre la devolución de predios
colectivos en Curbaradó. El Padre Franco forma parte de la Comisión
Intereclesial de Justicia y Paz, organización que trabaja en la promoción y
defensa de los derechos humanos en Colombia. Esta organización vendría
siendo victima de una campaña de desprestigio, acusándoles de tener
conexiones con un grupo para-militar. Dicha campaña se habría
presuntamente intensificado en conexión con un caso ante la Corte
Interamericana impulsado por la organización.
