received, <strong>on</strong> 11 February 2013, police <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>ficers searched <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fices <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Zimbabwe Peace Project (ZPP) in Harare <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> grounds that ZPP allegedly<br />

had subversive material, documents, gadgets or recordings and had<br />

c<strong>on</strong>travened <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Immigrati<strong>on</strong> Act. On 19 February 2013, police <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>ficers<br />

searched <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Harare <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fices <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Zimbabwe Electi<strong>on</strong> Support Network<br />

(ZESN), which has been suspected <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> having committed <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fense as<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> ZPP. On <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same day, ZESN <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fices in Masvingo were burglarised by<br />

unidentified men. It is reported that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se incidents follow a series <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r<br />

searches and acts <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> harassments against n<strong>on</strong>-governmental organizati<strong>on</strong>s<br />

and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir members. On 14 February 2013, nine members <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Women <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA), who were taking part in a peaceful protest<br />

outside Parliament building in Harare, were reportedly assaulted and<br />

arrested by police forces. Most <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m were released without any charge a<br />

few hours after <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir arrests. It is alleged that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se measures form part <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a<br />

c<strong>on</strong>tinuing campaign aimed at intimidating and silencing associati<strong>on</strong>s, in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

c<strong>on</strong>text <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> forthcoming referendum and electi<strong>on</strong>s in Zimbabwe.<br />

Alleged impositi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> death penalty <strong>on</strong> a community activist. According<br />

to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> informati<strong>on</strong> received, in 2009, Mr. Bakri Moussa Mohammed, a<br />

community activist in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Kalma camp for displaced people in South Darfur<br />

was arrested. Moreover, Mr. Moussa Mohammed was sentenced in 2010 to<br />

10 years <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> impris<strong>on</strong>ment for alleged participati<strong>on</strong> in a murder, in retaliati<strong>on</strong><br />

for his activism. On 31 December 2012, an <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>ficer <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Kober pris<strong>on</strong> in<br />

Khartoum informed Mr. Moussa Mohammed, that his punishment had been<br />

revised to a death sentence. Subsequently, he was transferred to death row.<br />

The same day, he was reportedly brought to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> gallows three times, before<br />

being told that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> executi<strong>on</strong> would be postp<strong>on</strong>ed for 35 days. It is reported<br />

that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re was no hearing about this change <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> sentence and that Mr. Moussa<br />

Mohammed could be executed at any moment. It is alleged that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> decisi<strong>on</strong><br />

was taken by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> pris<strong>on</strong> administrati<strong>on</strong> under pressure from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Nati<strong>on</strong>al<br />

Security Service.<br />
