Supuesta injerencia en la independencia de la judicatura. Según las<br />
informaci<strong>on</strong>es recibidas, el C<strong>on</strong>greso Naci<strong>on</strong>al destituyó a cuatro de los<br />
cinco magistrados de la Sala C<strong>on</strong>stituci<strong>on</strong>al de la Corte Suprema de Justicia:<br />
los señores José Ant<strong>on</strong>io Gutiérrez Navas, Gustavo Enrique Bustillo Palma,<br />
José Francisco Ruiz Gaekel y la señora Rosalinda Cruz Sequeira. El<br />
procedimiento de destitución fue supuestamente realizado durante la<br />
madrugada del 12 de diciembre de 2012 sin la debida transparencia, c<strong>on</strong> el<br />
supuesto fundamento en los artículos 205, numeral 20, 321 y 324 de la<br />
C<strong>on</strong>stitución de la República de H<strong>on</strong>duras. Sin embargo se informa que este<br />
procedimiento de destitución habría sido llevado a cabo como medida de<br />
represalia política, en razón de los votos por parte de los cuatro magistrados<br />
en referencia a favor de un recurso de amparo en c<strong>on</strong>tra del Decreto 89-<br />
2012 que creó la Ley de Depuración de la Policía Naci<strong>on</strong>al.<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> received, 228 families (1200 pers<strong>on</strong>s) were at risk <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> being<br />
evicted to give way to an expansi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> East Parej Open Cast Coal Mine,<br />
operated by Central Coalfields Limited, India. On 26 October 2012, and at<br />
two o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r occasi<strong>on</strong>s, representatives <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> mining company surveyed<br />
households in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> villages <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Agarva Tola, Dudmitya Tola and Fakodih, for<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> purpose <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> acquiring <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir homes to facilitate <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> expansi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> mine.<br />
Over 1,000 people from surrounding villages have already been displaced in<br />
previous years by activities associated with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> East Parej Open Cast Coal<br />
Mine. The affected households bel<strong>on</strong>ged to marginalized communities,<br />
including scheduled tribes and Dalits. They were allegedly resettled in<br />
inadequate sites and have suffered impoverishment since displacement.<br />

also c<strong>on</strong>fiscated. It is alleged that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se raids may be aimed at intimidating<br />
and silencing associati<strong>on</strong>s working in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> field <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> human rights.<br />
