<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> detenti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Mr. Abdul Wahid Rezaee, an Afghani nati<strong>on</strong>al, is based <strong>on</strong><br />

allegati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> ‗people smuggling‘, but <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> authorities had not yet interviewed<br />

him nor brought his case to a court. Meanwhile his health c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s were<br />

deteriorating and he repeatedly threatened to harm himself or o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs. No<br />

administrative measures to ease his situati<strong>on</strong> had been taken (community<br />

Alleged re-arrest and detenti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> former pris<strong>on</strong>er <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>science. According<br />

to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> informati<strong>on</strong> received, Ashin Gambira (aka) Nyi Nyi Lwin, 33 years<br />

old, was arrested <strong>on</strong> 1 December 2012 and remanded in custody in Insein<br />

Pris<strong>on</strong> before being freed <strong>on</strong> bail <strong>on</strong> 10 December by a court in Thanlyin for<br />

health reas<strong>on</strong>s. He was told that police stati<strong>on</strong>s from three townships,<br />

Thingangyun, Bahan and Thanlyin, had filed cases against him under<br />

secti<strong>on</strong>s 448, 427 and 454 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Myanmar Penal Code, which cover crimes<br />

relating to trespassing and ―damaging <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> dignity <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> nati<strong>on</strong>‖. Allegedly<br />

Gambira was detained to prevent him from participating in a campaign to<br />

support <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> alleged victims <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a police crackdown <strong>on</strong> protesters against <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Mt. Letpadaung copper mine in northwestern Myanmar. Mr. Gambira has<br />

reportedly been arrested three times since he was released in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> January<br />

2012 amnesty. Mr. Gambira was <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> subject <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> an earlier communicati<strong>on</strong><br />

(see A/<str<strong>on</strong>g>HRC</str<strong>on</strong>g>/19/44, case no MMR 4/2011).<br />

Summary executi<strong>on</strong>s; Alleged extrajudicial killings by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Nigerian Security Forces. According to<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> informati<strong>on</strong> received, Boko Haram, a group operating in nor<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rn<br />

Nigeria, has launched scaled terror attacks across Nigeria. Reportedly, since<br />

mid-2009, as a tactic <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> resp<strong>on</strong>se to fight this group, extrajudicial<br />

executi<strong>on</strong>s, enforced disappearance, torture and detenti<strong>on</strong> without trial<br />

against pers<strong>on</strong>s known to be members <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> this group and those suspected to<br />

be helping or sympathizing with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m have been performed by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Nigerian<br />

Security forces. Moreover, it is alleged that incidents unrelated to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> fight<br />

against Boko Haram have also occurred, including killings by police<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>ficers <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Umoar Danmichika and Lucy Ukp<strong>on</strong>g.<br />
