Interpandemic and <strong>Pandemic</strong> Alert Periods<br />

State Health Department:<br />

• Continue the administration of seasonal influenza and pneumococcal<br />

vaccine to reduce the possibility of co-infection, and to maintain and<br />

develop influenza vaccination infrastructure.<br />

• Continue the use of antivirals to control nosocomial outbreaks.<br />

• <strong>Plan</strong> for the use of an IND protocol.<br />

• <strong>Plan</strong> for the implementation of treatment, prophylaxis, and PEP protocols.<br />

• <strong>Plan</strong> for data collection.<br />

Local Health Departments:<br />

• Continue the administration of seasonal influenza and pneumococcal<br />

vaccine to reduce the possibility of co-infection and to maintain and<br />

develop influenza vaccination infrastructure.<br />

• Continue the use of antivirals to control nosocomial outbreaks.<br />

• <strong>Plan</strong> for the use of an IND protocol.<br />
