hospitalized or admitted to the ED.<br />

• Survey of Antibiotic Usage Protocols. Antibiotic control<br />

interventions, ordering, rotation, use, hand hygiene procedures, and<br />

antibiograms in use for following resistance patterns of organisms in<br />

the facility.<br />

• HRSA Baseline Survey. Hospital Capacities and program<br />

infrastructure for planning related to response to PHP Events.<br />

The HERDS instance for Local Health Department reporting is<br />

operational and in use for specific reporting functions. Local health<br />

response capacity surveys cogent to the planning process include<br />

• Public Health Preparedness Survey June 2005.<br />

Each of these HERDS instances has the ability to generate an electronic<br />

reporting/surveillance or tracking form in real time, in support of any<br />

inventory tracking or response needs of a <strong>Pandemic</strong> influenza event.<br />

g. Health Alert Network (HAN) web site. The HAN web site on commerce is<br />

accessible to all commerce users. The site includes:<br />

• A viewer for alerts posted automatically by the IHANS system. Alerts can<br />

be posted as open to all users or restricted to specific roles/organizations to<br />

whom the alerts are sent.<br />

• Linkages to detailed topical areas of current interest with in depth<br />

resources and information on each topic. These include: influenza, SNS,<br />

West Nile/arbovirus, SARS, cybersecurity, terrorist agents (chemical,<br />

radiological biological), etc.<br />

• Protocols and information resources for response partners<br />
