(.niUivat'ion, This is a triangular-shaped townsliip, vith its hase towards the<br />
Uivjr Tliames. There is a considerable portion of irood land in it; although<br />
diere are some vret s})ots scattered over it. Timber — principally hardwood.<br />
Tiie east branch of H-.-ar Creek runs through the north-west of the township.<br />
On the bank of the Tiianies, about thirty-eight miles from Chatham, is a spring<br />
containing suli)huretted hydrogen gas; and about half a mile from it is a naphtha<br />
spring. The village of Wardsville is situated in the township, on the western<br />
road. There are two grist and two saw mills in the township.<br />

MOUNT PLEAS.\NT.<br />
A small Village in the townshij) of iJrantlbrd, five miles from Brantford, on<br />
tlie road to Simcoe. It contains about 1.'50 inhabitants. Churches and chapels,<br />
three; viz.. Episcopal, Presbyterian and Methodist.<br />
Post Office, post three times a week.<br />
Frofi'ssion.s anil Trades.— Four stores, two taverns, one waggon maker, two<br />
blaclcsmiths, two tailors, two shoemakers.<br />
MOULINETTE.<br />
A ^'lliage in the township of Cornwall, situated on the St. Lawrence, seven<br />
miles from Cornwall. It contains about one hundred inhabitants. Churches<br />
and chapels, two; viz., Episcopal and Methodist.<br />

macJiine, foundry, one store, one tavern, one cabinet maker, one- blacksmith.<br />
MOULTON.<br />
A Township in the Niagara District; is bounded on the north-east by the<br />
townships of Wainlloef and Gainsborough; on the nortli-west by Canboro'; and<br />
on the south by the Grand River, Sherbrooke and Lake Erie. In Moulton<br />
8,98.3 acres are taken vp, V,716 of which are under cultivation. A large swamp<br />
is situated in the south-east corner of the township, and extends into the township<br />
of Wainfleet. The feeder of the Welland Canal is formed through the<br />
south of the townshij), and enters the Grand Iliver at the village of Dunnville,<br />
which is situated near the south-Avest corner of the township. There are two<br />
grist and two saw mills in the township.<br />
Population in 1841, 628.<br />

MOUNTAIN.<br />
A Township in the Eastern Di.strict; is bounded on the north-east by the<br />
township of Winchester; on the north-west by Os:;oode ; on the south-west by<br />
South Gower; and on the south-east by Matilda. In Mountain 25,362 acres<br />
are tiken up, 6,269 of which are under cultivation. The Petite Nation Iliver<br />
runs througli the west and south of the township, leaving it at its eastern corner.<br />
Mountain is pretty well settled, and contains some good land. Timber— a mixture<br />
of pine and hardwood. Two hundred acres of Crown lands are open for<br />
sale in the township, at S.v. currency per acre. There is an Episcopal chui'ch in<br />
the township, and one grist and four saw mills.<br />
