TILBURY WEST.<br />
A To\rnship in the County of Kent ; is bounded on the cast by tiie townships<br />
of Tilbury East and Roiuney; on the north by Lalse St. Clair; on the west by.<br />
Rochester; and on the south by Mersea. In Tilbury West 10,007 acres are<br />
taken up. 707 of which are under cultivation. A wet prairie or marsh, firom,<br />
three to four miles in width, borders on the lake, and extends along the whole<br />
breadth of the township: this is useful for grazing cattle, but is not fit for cultivation.<br />
The remainder of the land is rich and fertile; and the timber is altogether<br />
hardwood. Tliree thousand seven hundred acres of Crown lands are<br />
open for sale in Tilbury West, at 8s. currency per acre; and the Canada Company<br />
possess about 4000 acres in the township.<br />
Population in 1844, 437; nearly two-thirds of whom are French <strong>Canadian</strong>s.<br />

TILSONBURG.<br />
A small Tillage in the south-east corner of the township of Dereham, situated<br />
on Otter Creek, fifteen miles from IngersoL It contains about one hundred<br />
inhabitants, who have a <strong>Canadian</strong> Wesleyan Church.<br />
Post Office, post three times a week.<br />
Professions and Trades.—Grist and saw mill, carding machine and fulling<br />
mill, axe factory, one store, one tavern, two tanneries, three blacksmiths, one<br />
tailor, one shoemaker.<br />
TINY.<br />
A Township in the Simcoe District ; is bounded on the north and west by the<br />
Georgian Bay and Nottawasaga Bay ; on the South by the township of Flos ,<br />
and on the east by Tay. In Tiny 8,243 acres are taken up, 892 of which are^<br />
under cultivation. This is a long irregularly shaped township. A bay, called<br />
Thunder Bay, projects for about two and a half miles into the north of the<br />
township ; and Penetanguishine Bay enters it from the township. of Tay, cutting<br />
across the town-line, thus dividing the township into two portions. A small,<br />
lake, containing about 800 acres, is situated near the south line of the township;<br />
and there are three smaller lakes in the north of the township. With the<br />
exception of the settlers in the village of Penetanguishine, tlie inhabitants are<br />
priticipally half French half Indian. In Tiny there are 21,200 acres of Crown.<br />
lands for disposal, at 8.v. c'y per acre.<br />

TOR BOLTON.<br />
A Township in the Bathurst District; is bounded on the north and north-east<br />
by tlie Ottawa River; on the south-east by the township of March ; and on the<br />
south-west by Fitzroy. In Torbolton 7,920 acres are taken up, 1,097 of which<br />
are under cultivation. But little is done in this township in the way of agricultural<br />
operations, tiie inhabitants being principally engaged in lumbering. Four<br />
thousand six hundred and thirty-three acres of Crown laucLs are open for sale<br />
in Torbolton, at S.v. c'y per acre.<br />

TORONTO.<br />
A Township in the Home District; is bounded on the ea.st by the township'<br />
of Ikobicoke and a small portion of the Gore of Toronto; on the north-west by<br />
Cliinguacousy ; on the soutli-vu'st by Trafalgar; and on the south-east by Lake<br />
Otitario. In Toronto .')9,267 acres are taken uji, 2^,4()S of wliich are under cullivatiou.<br />
