Crown lands for sale, at 8*. currency per acre.<br />

D ALITOU.SIK DISTRICT.<br />

Consists of the County of Carleton, which returns a member to the House of<br />

Assembly; and <strong>com</strong>prises the townships of Fitzroy, Goulbourn, North Gower,<br />

Gloucester, Huntley, March, Marlborough, Nepean, O.-jroode. and Torbolton.<br />

This district, which is bounded on the north by the Ottawa River, is also<br />

watered bv the Mississipj)!, the Rideau, and the Petite Nation Rivers. The<br />

Dalliousic District, being more dependant upon the lumber trade, than ujwn<br />

a.t!,ricultural purs\iits, advances but slowly. Much of tlie land in this district is<br />

oJf rather poor (juality, being stoney and rocky. There is, however, a sulficient<br />

quantity that is fit for agricultural purposes. The larger portion of tlie inhabitnuu<br />

being engaged in preparing timber for the Quebec market, agriculture is<br />

neglected, and the consetpience is, that provisions are dearer in Bytown than in<br />

any other town in Canada West. The Uideau Canal passes through the district.<br />

Sixty thousand six hundr^'d and eighty-four acres of Crown lands are open<br />

for sale in the Dalhousie District; to purchase any of which, application must<br />

be made to the Crown Lands' Agent, at New Edinburgh, near Bytown.<br />
