NAPANEE RIVER.<br />
A River, different branches of which take their rise in the north of the Midlaud<br />
District, in the townships of Shetlield, llinchinbrooke, and Louahborongh;<br />
they unite close to the west line of the township of Camden I'.ast, and the river<br />
CJiters the Bay of Qninte, in the township of Uichniond. The village of Napanet'<br />
is situated ou the river, which is an excellent mill stream.<br />
NASSAGAWEYA.<br />
A Township in the Gore District, is bounded on the north-east by the town'<br />
sliip of Es(]uesinp:; on the north-west by Eramosa; on the south-west by Pus"<br />
lineh and Flamborough, and on the south-east by Nelson. In Xassagaweya<br />
25,121 acres are taken up, 7314 of which are under cultivation. The township<br />
is well watered by numerous snuill streams running through it, and it contains<br />
some excellent laud. Timber principally hardwood. There are one grist and<br />
tliree saw mills in the township.<br />
Population in 1841, 1182.<br />

NELSON.<br />
A Township in the Gore District, is botmdedon the noi-th -east by the township<br />
of Trafalgar; on the north-west by Nassagaweya; on the south-west by<br />
Flamborough, and on the south-east by Lake Ontario. In Nelson 4."i,4o3 acres<br />
a.re taken up, 18,354 of which are under cultivation. This is an old and well<br />
settled township, containing good land, excellent larms, and fine flourishing<br />
orchards. It is well watered by Twelve Mile Creek, and numerous small streams<br />
running through it. Most of the laud is rolling. Timber, hardwood intermixed<br />
with pine. The village of Nelson is situated in the township, on Dundas<br />
Street ; and there are two grist and seventeen saw mills in the township.<br />
Population in 1841, 3059.<br />

NELSON.<br />
A small Village on Dundas Street in the township of Nelson; it contains a! out<br />
fifty inhabitants; tavern, store and post office.<br />
NEPEAN.<br />
A Township in the Dalhousie District, is bounded on the east by the township<br />
of Gloucester; on the north by the Ottawa River; on the west by March<br />
and Goulborne; and on the south-east by North Gower. In Nepean 37,4iil<br />
acres are taken up, 7454 of which are under cultivation. The Rideau river<br />
aaul canal form the eastern border of the township. The town of Bytowri is<br />
situated in the north-east corner, on the Ottawa River, and a small settlement,<br />
ciilled Britannia, in the north of the township. Nepean is well settled, arid<br />
contains some good farms ; the great diMuand for jjrovisions at Bytown, occasicmed<br />
