SAN LUIS OBISPO REGION<br />
COORDINATED HUMAN SERVICES-PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PLAN<br />
GOAL 2.0: BUILD CAPACITY TO MEET INDIVIDUALIZED MOBILITY NEEDS, CONTINUED<br />
2.3 Develop strategies for improving transportation<br />
solutions in identified corridors or areas <strong>of</strong> need.<br />
2.3.1 Promote pilot solutions that address any <strong>of</strong> the following corridors/areas:<br />
- east-west travel between north coast communities & Paso Robles (SR 46-west)<br />
- north-south travel between north coast communities & <strong>San</strong> <strong>Luis</strong> <strong>Obispo</strong> (SR 1)<br />
- east-west travel between Shandon and Paso Robles (SR 46 – east)<br />
- east-west travel between <strong>California</strong> Valley and Atascadero (SR 58)<br />
- improved connections to medical facilities around Templeton<br />
- within the Five Cities area<br />
- north-south travel between Five Cities area & <strong>San</strong> <strong>Luis</strong> <strong>Obispo</strong> (101 & SR 227)<br />
- north-south travel between Five Cities & the Creek side Career Center (S. SLO)<br />
- Nipomo trips within and between the Five Cities (101 & SR 1)<br />
2.3.2 Collect data to document needs and identify potential strategies to<br />
address mobility needs <strong>of</strong> hidden populations, including agricultural workers<br />
and incarcerated homeless persons who are released from jail.<br />
2.3.3 Promote projects that partner with private sector providers to connect<br />
the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Luis</strong> <strong>Obispo</strong> region with other counties, including <strong>San</strong>ta Barbara and<br />
counties to the south and Monterey County and counties to the north.<br />
2.3.4. Promote non-emergency medical transportation initiatives, including<br />
innovative projects that serve medical destinations in <strong>San</strong>ta Barbara County.<br />
2.4 Promote capital improvements to support safe,<br />
comfortable, efficient rides for the target populations.<br />
2.4.1 Promote the broadest range <strong>of</strong> capital projects to improve users’ riding<br />
experience, including support for bus shelters, benches, lighting at stops,<br />
information technology at stops and on vehicles, and safe boarding strategies.<br />
2.4.2 Promote vehicle and vehicle-related capital projects that increase the<br />
number <strong>of</strong> accessible vehicles and promote safe, cost-effective transportation.<br />
2.5 Establish mechanisms to support transportation<br />
services provided by human services agencies.<br />
2.5.1 Promote vehicle maintenance, vehicle loaner and vehicle back-up<br />
programs for human services agencies via the CTSA.<br />
2.5.2 Identify and distribute information about liability insurance options for<br />
human service organizations, including general liability for vehicle operations<br />
and for volunteer-based programs.<br />
