SAN LUIS OBISPO REGION<br />
COORDINATED HUMAN SERVICES-PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PLAN<br />
‣ Senior Shuttle Services<br />
Ride-on, as RTA’s operator, is providing Senior Shuttles throughout the region. There<br />
are six systems providing services for seniors only, from 8am to 5 pm during the week.<br />
There is no service on Sundays and shuttles operate only on specific days <strong>of</strong> the week<br />
outside <strong>of</strong> the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Luis</strong> <strong>Obispo</strong> city. All <strong>of</strong> the shuttles <strong>of</strong>fer door-to-door service but<br />
require a 2-24 hour prior reservation. The base fare is $2.00 one way. The Ride-On<br />
Senior Shuttles and Runabout are the main two Dial-A-Ride services between cities.<br />
‣ Smaller Shuttles<br />
There are small scale shuttles with limited days <strong>of</strong> service and by reservations only.<br />
These include: Cambria Community Bus (senior and disabled) with weekly trips to <strong>San</strong><br />
<strong>Luis</strong> <strong>Obispo</strong> and monthly trips to Paso Robles; Templeton Shandon Shuttle (low-income<br />
seniors in Templeton and general public in Shandon for access to Paso Robles); and<br />
Nipomo-Mesa Shuttle (general public for access to SCAT).<br />
‣ Dial-A-Ride General Public Services<br />
There are seven systems throughout the county operated primarily by private<br />
contractors providing demand response services to general public riders. All <strong>of</strong> the Dial-<br />
A-Ride’s <strong>of</strong>fer service Monday through Friday with a few <strong>of</strong>fering service on Saturday<br />
(Morro Bay) or Sunday (Paso Robles). The operating hours range from 6am to 7:30pm.<br />
The base fare and senior discounts vary among the different areas. All <strong>of</strong> the services<br />
which are open to the general public, <strong>of</strong>fer door-to-door services.<br />
‣ Local Public Transit Fixed-Route<br />
SLO Transit, Paso Robles City Area Transit System, North County Shuttle, <strong>San</strong>ta Maria<br />
Area Transit are local providers <strong>of</strong> public transit for the general public. All systems<br />
operate form Monday through Saturday, with Sunday service on SLO Transit, SMAT and<br />
SCAT. See Table 5-1 for schedule and base fare information.<br />
‣ Ride-On Services<br />
This operator <strong>of</strong>fers a mix <strong>of</strong> services to the public: Transportation Management<br />
Association (TMA), Consolidated Transportation Services Agency (CTSA), and<br />
Guaranteed Ride Home, other specialized services and commuter van pools.<br />
‣ Runabout Service<br />
This program is the ADA complementary paratransit service to all fixed route in the<br />
region (regional bus, local bus, trolley). Hours <strong>of</strong> service vary by area within ¾ mile <strong>of</strong><br />
the bus corridor.<br />
‣ Regional Rideshare<br />
This is an information education program, oriented primarily but not exclusively, to<br />
commuters. Regional Rideshare is responsible for promoting use <strong>of</strong> public transit,<br />
through information dissemination, campaigns, and a variety <strong>of</strong> other alternative<br />
transportation strategies, throughout the region.<br />
