Inter-community travel and issues<br />

• Coordination between specific communities<br />

o Suggest deploying Paso Robles buses to <strong>San</strong> Miguel or Shandon at mid-day<br />

o Discussion <strong>of</strong> sub-regional transition in North County, including a more direct<br />

route between Atascadero, Paso Robles, and Templeton, (an issue also raised<br />

during the FY 2005/2006 Unmet Transit Needs process)<br />

• Other inter-community transit issues<br />

o Suggest focusing regional transit north <strong>of</strong> Templeton on long distance commuter<br />

market (to <strong>San</strong> <strong>Luis</strong> <strong>Obispo</strong>)<br />

Inadequate service hours / service days<br />

• Evening service requests<br />

o Limited weekday evening transit options<br />

• Weekend service requests/needs<br />

o Minimal weekend transportation services<br />

• Other service hour needs<br />

o Lack <strong>of</strong> compatible hours among transit systems<br />

Difficulties regarding transfers<br />

• Different systems have different transfer rules, creating barriers to coordination<br />

• Lack <strong>of</strong> timed transfers between regional and local buses, limiting mobility <strong>of</strong> riders and<br />

deterring potential riders<br />

• Need better signs and schedule information at transfer points<br />

Fares<br />

• Lack <strong>of</strong> uniform fares and criteria for fare discounts, creates barriers to use <strong>of</strong> multiple<br />

systems<br />

Other needs/issues<br />

• Need improvements in signage at shared bus stops (similar issue was raised in the FY<br />

2003/2004 Unmet Transit Needs process)<br />

• Need permanent transfer points between regional and local buses, visible and<br />

pedestrian-friendly<br />
