The practices referenced inTable 3-1 are the most common <strong>BMP</strong>s that can prevent pollutants from leavinga site and contaminating soil, groundwater, and surface waters.3.4.2.2 SOIL STABILIZATIONThe following are the most common actions property owners can take toimplement soil stabilization <strong>BMP</strong>s. Also see Table 3-2 for common soilstabilization problems and associated <strong>BMP</strong> solutions.A. RESTORE DISTURBED AND COMPACTED SOILSRestore soil infiltration function by aerating soils, increasing soil organicmatter, planting native and adapted plants, and mulching bare soils. Refer toChapter 5 Soil and Vegetation Management or consult the Home LandscapingGuide for Lake <strong>Tahoe</strong> and Vicinity.B. LEGALLY PAVE DIRT DRIVEWAYS, ROADS, AND PARKINGDriveways, roads, and parking areas designated for year round use shall bepaved with a hard surface that can withstand snow plowing during the wintermonths. Snow plowing must be done without disturbing soils.A Site Assessment or LandCoverage Verification may berequired when paving morethan the minimum allowed bythe local jurisdiction.
