Local utility districts will have information on mappedutilities. Hitting a utility during construction is avoidable and measures shouldbe taken throughout the project to know all utility locations prior to andduring construction.2.3.2 INITIAL SITE VISITThe initial site visit should identify existing conditions such as landscapefeatures and drainage patterns. The initial site visit should compare these fieldobservations with the information that was previously gathered. If the site visitleads to the assumption that a portion of the mapped information is inaccurate,an additional site visit may be required. This is the step where you shoulddetermine if permits or a follow up site visit should be performed to verifyinformation.
