Plan components andguidance on how to complete them are explained in detail below.5.4.1.1 SITE DESCRIPTIONThe site description section provides context for the revegetation activities.Information needed includes location, site conditions such as soil type and Ksatrate, land capability, vegetation types, extent of sun and shade, and presence ofsensitive areas such as SEZs, rocky outcroppings, or backshore.5.4.1.2 PROJECT GOALS AND OBJECTIVESThis section describes the reasons why the revegetation project is beingundertaken and what the project will achieve. Project goals and objectivesshould directly relate to the problem the project is intended to address, anddepict issues that will continue or result if the project is not implemented.These goals will guide the selection of success criteria. While the <strong>BMP</strong>handbook generally focuses on revegetation for the purposes of erosioncontrol, other project goals and objectives include restoring vegetativediversity, creating wildlife habitat, fulfilling scenic screening requirements, andproviding water quality treatment.5.4.1.3 PROJECT SCHEDULEProvide a detailed schedule for each element of the plan. The schedule willdepend on the complexity and scale of the project, but at a minimum willtypically include dates for temporary <strong>BMP</strong> installation, pre-grade inspection,topsoil salvage, soil loosening and amendments, seeding, planting, irrigation,weeding, removal of irrigation system, final inspection, etc. Please seeRevegetation Plan Example Section C.5.4.1.4 SELECTION OF PLANT MATERIALSUse the description of common Revegetation Site Types, Site TypeRecommended Species List, Site Type Recommended Seed Mixes, and TRPAApproved Plant Species Attributes Table at the end of this chapter to guide theplant selection process for any Lake <strong>Tahoe</strong> Region revegetation project. Onceselected, list plant materials using the plant materials table provided in theRevegetation Plan template at the end of this chapter. Plant materials selectedmust be robust, free of disease and insect infestation, and have vigorous foliageand wood. Plants from the nursery should have been grown locally or in asimilar zone. If plants have been grown in a different climate, they may havetrouble flourishing in the Lake <strong>Tahoe</strong> climate.
