4.2.4.5 LIVESTOCK FACILITY <strong>MANAGEMENT</strong>Alternative Names: Stables, Corrals, Pasture, Grazing AreasDESCRIPTIONLivestock facilities require careful management in order to protect soil andwater resources, as well as prevent nuisance odor and pest issues. While fewlarge-scale grazing operations still exist in the Lake <strong>Tahoe</strong> Region, multiplecommercial riding stables as well as smaller private stables operate within theLake <strong>Tahoe</strong> Region, often adjacent to sensitive areas such as StreamEnvironment Zones (SEZs). Facilities are not permitted within 100feet of SEZs or the backshore, in areas subject to overland flow from upslopeareas, and in areas which have less than 4 feet from the soil surface to thegroundwater table at any time of the year.
