Slotted channel drain collecting driveway runoff. Note the sediment trap at the dischargepoint of the slotted channel drain prior to a subsurface infiltration system.3.4.5 STORMWATER TREATMENTIn the case of small residential sites, stormwater treatment usually takes theform of a sediment trap at the end of a conveyance system such as an asphaltswale or slotted channel drain prior to stormwater entering an infiltrationsystem. It may also include sediment traps at the end of downspouts prior torooftop runoff entering a subsurface gravel infiltration system. In some caseswhere there are site constraints such as high groundwater that prevent or limitinfiltration, Filter Strips (Refer to Chapter 4 BMP Toolkit, Section 4.1.1.7) anddripline gravel armor (Refer to Chapter 4 BMP Toolkit, Section 4.1.1.3,Infiltration Trench) may be used as stormwater treatment for driveway androoftop runoff.CHAPTER 3: Permanent BMP Planning and SelectionTRPA BMP HandbookPage 3-10 2012
