UNMAPPED ROCK OUTCROPS, STEEP SLOPESIdentify the location of all unmapped outcrops and steep slopes. A naturallysteep slope that is already stable and not slated for legally permittedconstruction should be left undisturbed. If the steep slope exhibits signs oferosion it should be stabilized.Refer to the Lake Tahoe BasinWeed Coordinating Groupwebsite,www.tahoeinvasiveweeds.org,for more information oninvasive weeds.EXISTING VEGETATIONIdentify existing vegetation including native and adapted species, noxious andinvasive species, and uncommon or sensitive species. Native and adaptedspecies should be protected from site disturbance and may be a good referencewhen revegetating other areas of the property. Invasive and noxious speciesshould be properly removed and disposed of. Refer to the Lake Tahoe BasinWeed Coordinating Group website, www.tahoeinvasiveweeds.org, for moreinformation on invasive weeds. Uncommon or sensitive species, such as SEZvegetation, have special protection and should be protected from any sitedisturbance. Identify vegetated areas that may be optimal for stormwaterinfiltration. TRPA requires the preservation and management of vegetation ofsignificant scenic, recreational, educational, scientific, or natural values of theLake Tahoe Region, and for management of vegetation to prevent the spread ofwildfires. For example, riparian or wetland species within the project areaboundaries shall be protected and preserved. Vegetation cover influencesrainfall-runoff characteristics and annual water balance. 8This well vegetated area is protected from disturbance with parking barriers.8SWQIC, 2004, Formulating and Evaluating Alternatives, Appendix A-3, Table A3-8,http://www.trpa.org/documents/Final_FEA.pdfCHAPTER 2: Site AnalysisTRPA BMP HandbookPage 2-8 2012
