4.5.2 EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLRemoving natural vegetation and topsoil during construction leaves bare soilareas susceptible to erosion, transforms existing drainage areas, and disturbssensitive areas. <strong>BMP</strong>s such as silt fence, fiber rolls and drain inlet protectionshould serve as a last line of defense against stormwater pollution. While these<strong>BMP</strong>s are effective at preventing large particles from leaving a construction site,they must be carefully installed and maintained in order to be effective.
