2.2.6.1.6 Nairobi Net Ltd.<br />

Reports from NairobiNet Ltd (2001) indicate that NairobiNet Online is one <strong>of</strong><br />

the leading Learning Service Providers (LSPs) in the region that <strong>of</strong>fers online<br />

courses and certificate programs. The report contends that NairobiNet is<br />

dedicated to improving the way companies and individuals learn, use, and<br />

master technology through educational solutions that empower learners with<br />

choice, allowing them to determine when, where, and how they want their IT<br />

education programs to be designed and delivered. Accordingly, NairobiNet<br />

harnesses the power <strong>of</strong> the Internet to increase the effectiveness <strong>of</strong> training,<br />

while reducing overall training costs. Since launching e-Learning in the<br />

region in 2000, NairobiNet has been on a mission to provide high-quality e­<br />

Learning courseware at affordable prices. NairobiNet proVides training for<br />

small, middle-sized and large businesses, non-pr<strong>of</strong>it organizations,<br />

government institutiohs and individuals.<br />

2.2.6.1.7 Swift Global (K) Ltd.<br />

Swift Global (K) Ltd (2002) was formed in 1995 by Richard Bell and<br />

Mohammed Jeneby, and its mission is to prOVide high quality, reliable<br />

Internet and value added services to corporate business in Kenya. Swift<br />

Global (2002) asserts that it is in partnership with Gilat Aldean Africa in<br />

order to prOVide customers with VSAT Satellite Internet access. This caters<br />

for the seamless delivery <strong>of</strong> two way upload and download data services to<br />

anyone, anywhere in East Africa, regardless <strong>of</strong> how remote the location. The<br />

report contends that accessing the Internet has been made easier by dial-up<br />

facilities, especially for customers living far away from urban centers. In this<br />

case, no telephone lines or cable systems are necessary. According to the<br />

report, Swift Global has regional <strong>of</strong>fices in Nairobi (Central Kenya), Mombasa<br />

(Coast Province), Malindi (Coast Region) and Kisumu (Western Kenya).<br />
