ROCK BLASTINGDescription205.01 This work consists of fracturing rock and constructing stable final rockcut faces using controlled blasting and production blasting techniques.Controlled blasting uses explosives to form a shear plane in the rock along aspecified backslope. Controlled blasting includes presplitting and cushionblasting.Production blasting uses explosives to fracture rock.Material205.02 Conform to the following Subsection:Explosives and blasting accessories 725.25Construction Requirements205.03 Regulations. Furnish copies or other proof of all applicable permitsand licenses. Comply with <strong>Federal</strong>, state, and local regulations on the purchase,transportation, storage, and use of explosive material. <strong>Federal</strong> regulationsinclude the following:(a) Safety and health. OSHA, 29 CFR Part 1926, Subpart U.(b) Storage, security, and accountability. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,and Firearms (BATF), 27 CFR Part 181.(c) Shipment. DOT, 49 CFR Parts 171-179, 390-397.205.04 Blasting Plan. Submit a blasting plan at least 14 days before drillingoperations begin or whenever a change in drilling and blasting procedures isproposed. Include full details of drilling and blasting patterns and the techniquesproposed for controlled and production blasting including provisionsfor loading wet holes.As a minimum, the blasting plan shall contain the following:(a) Maximum dimensions for width, length, and depth of shot.120
