Section 154. ) CONTRACTORSAMPLING AND TESTINGDescription154.01 This work consists of obtaining samples for testing. When there is acontract pay item for Contractor testing, it also consists of testing and reportingrequired test results. It does not include Contractor quality control testingrequired under Section 153. However, include the work required under thisSection in the Section 153 quality control plan.Construction Requirements154.02 Sampling. Sample material to be tested. The sampling schedules andtimes will be provided by the CO using a random number system. In addition,sample any material that appears defective or inconsistent with similar materialbeing produced, unless such material is voluntarily removed and replaced orcorrected.Sample and split samples according to AASHTO or other acceptable procedures.Allow the CO the opportunity to witness all sampling. Immediatelyperform splits when required. Furnish approved containers for the Government'sportion of split samples. Label Government samples. The CO will takepossession of the Government samples.154.03 Testing. When there is a contract pay item for Contractor testing,perform all tests required by the Sampling and Testing Tables for all applicablework. Allow the CO the opportunity to witness all testing. Testing of trialsamples may be required to demonstrate testing competence.154.04 Records. Record test results on acceptable forms. Furnish all testresults in the minimum time reasonably necessary to perform the tests andtransmit the results. When tests are on material being incorporated in thework, report test results within 24 hours. Payment for work may be delayedor the work suspended until test results are provided.154.05 Acceptance. Contractor sampling and testing will be evaluated underSubsections 106.02 and 106.04 based on Government verification testing.77
