Section 713Table 713-2Straw Erosion Control MatMaterialSpecificationStraw (1) 0.44 lb/yd² min.Photodegradable netting on one sideNetting 0.20-0.8 inch square mesh (2) with a3.0 lb/1000 ft² mass(1) Moisture content shall not exceed 20 percent.(2) Dimensions are approximate and may vary to meetmanufacturer's standards.(b) Burlap fabric. Furnish burlap fabric with a standard weave and amass of 4.3±0.7 ounces per square yard.(c) Jute mesh. Furnish jute mesh with a uniform open plain weavefabricated from jute yarn that does not vary in thickness by more thanhalf its normal diameter. Conform to the following:(1) Mesh size 1 by 1 inch max.(2) Mesh mass, ASTM D 1776 14 oz/yd² ±5%(d) Woven paper or sisal mesh netting. Furnish mesh netting of wovenpaper or woven sisal twisted yarn conforming to thefollowing:(1) Mesh openings 0.125 to 0.25 inch(2) Shrinkage after wetting 20% max.(2) Type 2 - Erosion control mats.(a) Straw and coconut mats. Furnish a mat consisting of straw andundyed untreated biodegradable jute, coconut coir, and synthetic polypropylenefibers or other approved yarn woven into a plain weavemesh. Conform to Table 713-3.721
