Fly ash, groundiron blast-furnace slag, or silica fume may partially replace cement as followsin any mix design except for prestressed concrete:(1) Fly ash.(1) Class F. Not more than 20 percent of the minimum mass of portlandcement in Table 552-1 may be replaced with class F fly ash at therate of 1.5 parts fly ash per 1 part cement.(2) Class C. Not more than 25 percent of the minimum mass of portlandcement in Table 552-1 may be replaced with class C fly ash at therate of 1 part fly ash per 1 part cement.(2) Ground iron blast-furnace slag. Not more than 50 percent of theminimum mass of portland cement in Table 552-1 may be replaced withground iron blast-furnace slag at the rate of 1 part slag per 1 partcement.(3) Silica fume (microsilica).
