PERMEABLE BACKFILLDescription210.01 This work consists of furnishing and placing permeable backfillagainst the backfilled faces of retaining walls, wing walls, and abutments.Material210.02 Conform to the following Subsections:Geotextile type I 714.01Permeable backfill 703.04Structural backfill 704.04Construction Requirements210.03 General. Do not place permeable backfill against a mortar course lessthan 4 days old.Cover the inlet end of each weep hole and drain with a geotextile extending atleast 1.5 feet beyond the weep hole or drain. Place permeable backfill againstthe surface to be backfilled. Place structural backfill according to Subsection208.10 using methods which prevent the structural backfill from mixing withthe permeable backfill.210.04 Acceptance. Material for permeable backfill will be evaluated underSubsections 106.02 and 106.04. See Table 210-1 for minimum sampling andtesting requirements.Placement of permeable backfill will evaluated under Subsections 106.02 and106.04.Geotextile will be evaluated under Section 207.Structural backfill will be evaluated under Section 208.Measurement210.05 Measure permeable backfill by the cubic yard in the structure.142
