After this I hope that in a book, which has the saving<br />

grace of making no poh'tical comment upon Egyptians, I<br />

may be allowed to print a bouquet of the finest flowers of<br />

Egyptian English which have ever been collected on one<br />

sheet of notepaper. It was addressed to the Secretary of one<br />

of the most important companies in Cairo, who vouches for<br />

the authenticity of the entire document.<br />

Respectfully herewith,<br />

That your honour's servant is poor man in agricultural<br />

behaviour which depends on season for the staff of life, therefore<br />

he proposes that you will be pitiful upon and take him<br />

into your sacred service, that he may have some permanent<br />

labour for the support of his soul and family. Whereupon he<br />

falls upon his family's bended knees, and implores to you on<br />

your merciful consideration to a damnable miserable like<br />

your honour's unfortunate petitioner.<br />

That Your Lordship's honour's servant was too much poorly<br />

during the last years and was resusitated by much medecines<br />

which made magnificent excavations in coffers of your<br />

honourable servant whose means are circumcised by his large<br />

family consisting of five female women and three masculines,<br />

the last of which are still taking milk from mother's chest,<br />

and are damnable noiseful through pulmonary catastrophy in<br />

their interior abdomens besides the above named an additional<br />

birth is through the grace of God shortly coming to my<br />

beloved of bosom.<br />

That your honour's damnable servant was officiating in<br />

several passages during all his generations becoming too much<br />

old for absorbing hard labour in this time of faded life, but<br />

was not drunkard nor fornicator nor thief nor swindler nor<br />

any of this kind but was always pious, affectionate to his<br />

numerous family consisting of the aforesaid five female women<br />

and three males the last of whom are still milking the<br />

parental mother.<br />

That your Gracious honour's Lordship's servant was en-<br />

treated to the Magistrate for employment in Municipality to<br />

remove filth etc., but was not granted the petition ; therefore
